Less than half the time, more than half the time, all the time.

It has been a long time and I have been cogitating and producing. There is a new song on our myspace page www.myspace.com/frictionlessman called Alarm starts the day. It is pretty good and I am pleased. I think I need to address the sibilance on the vocals, but otherwise it is good.
I sent a story to a magazine for publication. Not heard anything yet.
I was reading the tattered remains of the Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand debacle and something occurred to me. Since when were comedians public servants? Since when did comedians have to worry about offending people? I suppose the answer is “since forever stupid” because when the angry mob comes to the door because you mocked the Duke, or when the Inquisition gets you for mocking the Pope, your have to answer to your critics. Life is a lot better for comedians these days.
But still. Even though what they did might not have been funny, or it might have been hilarious I don’t know I have not heard it and fuck it, it is old now, can’t stand old comedy, unless it is timeless, like Apocalypse Now, or Live Aid, or The Elephant Man, or The Battleship Potemkin, even if it was rubbish, why blame the talent? They’re not paid to be well behaved; they get paid to create the magic baby! I mean, magic, baby! They don’t make magic babies, that is the job of the good people at Warner Brothers. I think.
I say, blame the BBC complaints department for being too good at their jobs and counting and listening. I think there should be a test for all potential complainers.
“I would like to make a complaint about “Bumthumbers of the Ancient East” which was on BBC 4 on Tuesday night. It was relentlessly depraved.”
“Did you see the program?”
“No.”
“Did you hear the program?”
“No.”
“Are you complaining on behalf of a friend or relative?”
“No.”
“Or you a mentalist?”
Apparently on American TV there is a new show called “The Mentalist” and it is about crime and something. I think. I saw a trailer for it when we watched the BBC coverage of the NFL game at Wembley recently. I don’ t know if you recall the episode of Alan Partridge – To Kill a Mocking Alan. But he shouts “you’re a mentalist” in that. Made me laugh. And the great thing about laughter is that it is free, or at least cheap. Unless you want the good shit in which case you have to pay at least £7.10 for it. Lordy.
